I felt like a proud parent this morning when I found out the Love Shack has been occupied by a happy auklet family! I hope to hear the news when the eggs are scheduled to hatch!

April 28th 2010, Año Nuevo Island
The day was blustery and rain came and went as we set about our second check of the Rhinoceros Auklet colony on Año Nuevo Island. Especially exciting was the opportunity to check the new ceramic nest modules that we placed on the island three weeks ago.

Hey everyone! I finally was able to get the first two rolls of film (yes, FILM!) processed in time for everyone to see before our last meeting. I hope everyone is able to access these images, I was really excited to be able to document this event, the old Canon has been longing for some adventure... I appreciate the privilege I have been given to acquire these rare shots. I hope they are as valuable to everyone else as they are to me. Enjoy! ~Leslie

Hello everyone! I have added two more albums of photos from our adventure last week and successful install of the modules. Two more rolls will be developed sometime this week, but for now, here are the pictures of the install (rolls 3 and 4 chronologically). Enjoy!

I am excited to be one of the lucky participants in the CCA/REBAR Ano Nuevo Island project. Addressing issues of our role in environmental preservation is a subject dear to my heart, and a great inspiration to my work. The complexities of this assignment have been challenging, a little exhausting, and overall an incredible learning experience. Working with ceramics was intimidating to me in the beginning, but as the production of our module (AKA, the "Love Shack") has… Continue
